The Job Watch (JOBWATCH) command allows you to run a job that will monitor jobs on your system and trigger commands set up with the JOBWATCHCF command.

  • End Time - Specify the time you wish JOBWATCH to terminate. If the time specified is less than the current time, JOBWATCH will be run only once. If the value *NONE is specified for the end time, the job will run until it is ended manually.

  • Job Interval - Enter the job interval (in minutes) that you wish JOBWATCH to monitor jobs. If the end time entered is less than the current time, this parameter is ignored.

  • Monitor Subsystem - Enter a list of subsystems to monitor. A special single value of *ALL can be used to monitor all subsystems. A maximum of 20 subsystems can be specified.

  • Job Status - Select the type of jobs that you would like to process. The possible values are: *ACTIVE Process all active jobs. *ALL Process all jobs.

  • Monitor Message Queues - Specify *YES if you want this specific JOBWATCH job to monitor message queues or not. This could be useful if you have multiple jobs monitoring specific subsystems for messages states and you do not want to monitor message queues as well. You can also specify *ONLY if you want the specific job to only monitor message queues.

  • Debug Mode - Debug mode will produce a stream file containing debug data.

  • Debug File - The filename to store the debug data in. The default is /tmp/jobwatchdebug.txt.
